Meng Kee Char Siew @ Glenmarie Shah Alam

Looking for lunch near Glenmarie?

There’s a shop called Meng Kee Char Siew which serves your typical chicken / char siew rice. However, the char siew at this place tastes much better than those of the ordinary shops. It was so called the best char siew around town but I personally find it to be above average, not the best but among the good ones.

They start selling at 9am till their supply finishes, head on before 12pm as the crowd would approach during office lunch hours and you might not get a seat there.

So here it is, the Meng Kee Famous Char Siew. Haha.

Lighting is a little off here, but yeah, here it is. The Char Siew. It is pretty oily and only proceed reading if you don’t care about it. You could opt for the fatty parts or leaner meat. Your choice. I requested for a mix between the fatty ones and the leaner parts.

Here’s the rice, fattening again as well. I guess they are called the oily rice. Anyway tastes great. Haha.

A portion of this comes with a plate of rice, a bowl of soup, the Char Siew and some salty sauce for the char siew.

Total cost: RM7. Mine had additional char siew in it. The normal portion wasn’t enough for me. A little higher priced than the norm, but definitely tastes better. Give a try if you are around that area.

There’s a restaurant in Sungai Way which I think serves better char siew than this. I’ll blog about it someday.

J Tean Kitchen @ SSTwo Mall, PJ

I’ve heard a couple of good comments about this place at SS Two Mall serving this somewhat unique dish. J Tean Kitchen is a restaurant which serves fusion food. What I mean here is a combination of Bak Kut Teh flavor in a western style pork burger. The restaurant serves many other Chinese dishes as well but I went there for the J Tean Porky Burger. Yes it was porky-licious =D

Here’s the Bak Kut Teh pork burger. Priced at RM16.90 each.

Looks a little dry here? It certainly ain’t dry when u start biting the meat off. It was simply juicy with the taste of herbs and all the good stuff. Sandwiching the burger patty isn’t your ordinary buns but rather with man tou’s deep fried to perfection. It gives a little crunch on the outside yet remaining soft and fluffy in the inside. Besides that, the presentation was great as well. The portion was HUGE for a local restaurant. I felt that this was the way restaurants here should serve their food. Just to my liking.

Pushing the top aside, we’ll have a closer look of what’s inside of it. 3 MAGICALLY thin slices of cucumber. It’s amazing on how thin they could slice them . Below the burger patty is another few slices of tomatoes, the generous amount of diced onions and garlic. Perhaps it was done to camouflage the smell of pork (if there is any).

The potato wedges, tasted like.. erm wedges. Haha you would have to request for some chilli sauce if you’d like some.

Complimenting this was the bubble milk tea drink. Hmm, this isn’t on the menu. It was presented specially for us. hahaha, sorry guys, you would have to order other stuff on the menu.

The drink wasn’t dilute and was good as well. =)

Affordably priced and wonderfully tasty. I enjoyed every single bit of the burger. J Tean Kitchen is really the place to go if you wanna have a great porky meal. They have other stuff too, not only this if you do not fancy burgers.

It’s located in SS2 Mall. Parking is still free at the moment, so this makes it even better right? =)

p/s: Perhaps if you’d mention you came from yltan.com, they would serve you better? :D
