Guide: Install OSX Lion 10.7 GM on Gigabyte GA-G31-ES2L
Retail OSX Lion installation on Gigabyte GA-G31-ES2L with ATI HD4670 QE/CI, Sleep/Intel StepSpeed working, audio (only analog). Everything works, except for digital out audio ATM
- A simple guide on how to get the Lion roaring on your hackintosh.
I’ll be using a USB install disk to get this done.
Well, there are a huge amount of resources out there for you to follow but here’s a compilation on how I done it on my setup.
What you’ll need.
- A retail Lion Installation USB.
- An Intel Core Duo/Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad/Core i5/Core i7 processor (as long as it is 64bit capable)
- Gigabyte G31M-ES2L Rev 1.x F8/F10
- >1 GB RAM (you wouldn’t want to run it if you have less than this)
- Sapphire ATI HD4670 512MB card
- SATA HDD
- A current mac installation to get the USB installer
Many thanks to MaLd0n from Insanelymac.com as most of the instructions are sourced from here.
1. Creating the USB Bootable Installer
Mount the InstallESD.dmg
Open Terminal and run the command: open /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ ESD/BaseSystem.dmg
At the Disk Utility app, restore BaseSystem.dmg to your flash drive. It would take a couple of minutes.
After the restoration, open the restored partition, navigate to System/Installation, delete the Packages link and create a folder with the same name, Packages.
Then install, “Extra Lion” and “Charmelon RC5″ into the USB Flash drive.
Reboot the pc and boot from the flash drive, the installation should run perfectly here.
2. Boot up Lion via Charmelon from the USB drive. (As you can see, the ATi 4670 works perfectly OOTB here with dual screen enabled as well)
- install Charmelon on the drive.
- get RealtekR1000SL.kext and place it in /extras/extensions
- get VoodooHDA-0.2.56.pkg and install that for 2channel audio (analog)
-get the ES2L package from insanely mac’s wiki and patch your dsdt, smbios.plist.
3. Reboot.
You’re done. Simple as that. Much much simpler than getting Snow Leopard installed on the same config.

Btw, if anyone manages to get Digital Out (optical) audio running on this board please do let me know. =)

only if i have the same configuration..
but well, nice heads up for the guide. anyway, what happened to your blog roll? sudah gulung tikar ah?
Awesome…!
Do you have a package of files? Can you post them… DSDT and Extension
Thanks
