Restoran Baru Lau Kai Ikan Sungai @ Sauk, Perak

Fancy eating fish balls? If you are somewhere near Sauk, you could give Restoran Baru Lau Kai Ikan Sungai a try.
I was around Lenggong area a couple of days ago and heard of this place which serves fish balls made from the clown knife fish. Gave it a try and turned out pretty well I would say.

First impression on the shop is that it looked cheap and dirty. Upon reaching the shop there would be a slight stench but luckily, the tables, seats and kitchen looked clean.

Anyway here’s the famous clown knife fish balls. Apparently they are only available here but I managed to find ONE shop in Ipoh selling this fish. Of course, the price isn’t the same.

It costs RM5 for 10 balls. They taste really good in terms of texture. Only fish balls made from clown knife fish have the slightly chewy feeling while most of the common fish balls out there are just plain. I don’t know how to describe this, but its good. =)

Here’s the board stated at the shop. I don’t know what it means. I’m a banana ^^.

A few newspaper clippings on their shop. It was on the Ipoh Echo September edition I think.

Another recommended dish by the various reviews, the salted egg calamari. It looks a bit small here.

Don’t know why. Supposed to come in larger sizes.

It tasted alright, but slightly too salty. Probably I was having it as a snack rather than having it with rice.

If you have a Garmin device loaded with Malfreemaps it is stated in the food POI section. If you don’t,  the shop is located just beside the huge arc at the entrance of Kampung Baru Sauk.

I came here for the balls and I’m satisfied with them. HAHA.

Ikea Meatballs

ikeameatballsYou love Ikea, I love Ikea and I think everyone loves Ikea for their minimalist design furniture, accessories and also the food at their restaurant. Finally I had the chance to try the so called delicious Ikea Meatballs.I heard many good comments about it especially from Phaik Joo.
Tagged as the authentic Swedish meatballs, served with some unknown sauce and lingonberry sauce, I just had to get a bite of it.
Oh yea, it comes with chips too~ =)
